REVIEW: Julep June 2013

So, I went for the UPGRADE this month for Julep. There were just so many pretty colors unlike ones I already have and I was really excited to try the DD creme & concealer they released this month! Also added on Bunny!

Here is the full Nantucket Nostalgia Collection for June!
Bunny, Nan, & Raegan
Martha, Lexie, Payton, & Dianna
Bess, Char, & Kennedy
DD Creme & DD Concealer
DD Creme in LIGHT
DD Creme as it's being blended...
DD Creme blended!
DD Concealer in Light
DD Concealer blended!

I'll definitely be using the nail polishes in the next few days for manicures, but I've honestly never had any issues with Julep's formula so I'm not super worried! Need to find my nail polish remover that's buried in one of our moving boxes & then I will post pictures of my fabulous nantucket manicure for you! :)

A few words on the DD creme & concealer... I know there have been a lot of complaints on Julep's Facebook page saying the shades were too dark and orange/yellow based, but the light color worked really well for me! It doesn't match perfectly straight out of the tube, but it's very blendable. I just used a small amount of the DD creme and it gave me a nice sheer coverage. I don't have a huge need for concealer right now, but the few areas I do need it on my face were very easily covered by this. I don't see anything really special about either of these products compared to the drugstore products I usually use, but they do work for what I need!
My only real issue with the DD products was the packaging. Both of them came in tubes that were filled mostly with air. This isn't necessarily a problem as long as the amount of product in the tubes is what was supposed to be in there, but the air combined with the shape of the tube makes it REALLY hard to get any product out. Like, I used the concealer once so far & I'll probably have to cut the tube open to get any more product out. Kind of disappointing as I thought these were supposed to be full sized products and the amount of product in them is more comparable to a sample.

Did anyone else try out the Julep DD products this month? What were your thoughts?

Pacifica Haul!

Any other Ipsy subscribers take advantage of the Pacifia discounts this month? I did and I was SO EXCITED to get my order today!

PREVIEW: Ipsy June 2013

Whoooo it's Ipsy spoiler time! :) May was SUCH a good month for them and I think we're all curious if they'll be able to top it this month. I have two bags headed my way this month, so I'm hoping there's a good variety of products/colors like last month!

Here's what we know so far!

1. Each bag should have a full-size NYX Blush! Looks like there are several different varieties and honestly I'll be thrilled to receive any of them. I've been on a blush kick lately. First photo is the email that was sent out to get people to re-subscribe and the second photo is from Ipsy's Facebook page.

2. This second sneak peek was posted on Ipsy's Facebook with the caption: Wild with vivid pencils perfect for your pout await this month! Not sure how I feel about the grammar there, but it's obviously lip pencils. :) The sleuths over at Makeuptalk.com were able to determine that these pencils are manufactured by Modern Basics, the company that Starlooks uses for their products! I've never used a lip pencil before, but I'm excited to try them out. Hoping for the pink or red color! EDIT to add that they are Starlooks!

3. The next sneak peek on Ipsy's page is captioned: The sun won't be the only thing sparkling this summer! Looks like sparkly eyeshadows, but again the girls on MUT figured out that these are the Sparking Cream Pallettes, produced by J. Cat. Here's the link: http://jcatbeauty.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=18_59&product_id=54
I pretty much love anything that sparkles, so I'm psyched about this. These would make fantastic eyeliners!

4 & 5. We're getting TWO of the items in the photo below. HOORAY VARIETY! My favorite detectives at MUT have determined that the purple item is gel eyeliner from Cailyn Cosmetics  & the red box is false lashes from J.Cat. Two things I'd be super thrilled to get in my bag! The white bottle is still yet to be determined and the pencil could be many different brands..although it looks like a shadow/highlighter pencil to me! Edit to add that the white can is Pssst Dry Shampoo!

Last, but not least, probably the best spoiler of all from Ipsy's Facebook:

IF THAT MEANS A LEOPARD PRINT BAG, I WILL BE HAPPY BEYOND WORDS!!!

Edit: Beauty Flawed on MUT posted this video with what appears to be the June bag!

REVIEW: Venus & Olay Razor via BzzAgent

I signed up for BzzAgent a few weeks ago, because who doesn't love trying out new products for free? Basically you sign up to become a BzzAgent and you'll fill out a series of questions related to the types of products you purchase and whatnot. Then, BzzAgent will set you up with a campaign for a product they'd like your opinion on. They send you the product, free of charge, and all they really ask is that you review it & share your views on their website and via social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, etc.

I am a new BzzAgent and this is the first campaign I'm a part of. I was sent the Gillette Venus + Olay razor!
I actually use a Venus razor and Olay facial products currently, so I was excited to test this out.

Product information via the BzzAgent campaign page:
The 5-blade technology of Venus & Olay exfoliates your skin’s surface by gently removing the top layer of dead, loose skin cells for surface skin renewal and helping show off your skin’s natural radiance. Next, the Olay Moisture Bars help lock in skin’s moisture for less dryness and delivers the glow of a Goddess. And in a truly divine development, it is a 2-in-1, so there’s no shaving cream required.

The package came with one cartridge, one razor, and one shower hook.

Here's a closer look at the blades and the Olay moisture bar (Sugarberry scented!).

The handle + cartridge. Handle has ridges to prevent slipping.

The razor hanging on the handy shower hook! It just suctions to the wall of your shower & is very easy to remove.

I've been using this razor for about a week now and I can definitely tell that my legs feel smoother after a shave. I had previously been using the Gillette Venus Disposable Tropical Razors, which just feature three blades, and Skintimate shave gel in Raspberry Rain. With the Venus + Olay razor, there is no need for shaving cream. Just run the moisture bar under the water for a second and then you can start shaving. The moisture bars make for a very smooth and close shave, and I have yet to cut myself at all, even around my ankles! I know I've used a razor in the past that had a moisture bar and it left a strange film on my legs, but this one doesn't at all. My legs feel silky and smooth, almost as though I applied lotion to them. The moisture bar seems like it will last a while...I've used it probably five times already and have yet to notice any real wear to it. You should always hang it on the shower hook so it dries properly. If you lay it on the side of the tub or something, the moisture part of it tends to stick to ceramic.

I'd definitely recommend this product and will probably buy a new set of cartridges once this one is used up. It's just so much easier to use this than to have to lather up in shaving cream and then shave. Plus, my legs feel smoother with this than my old razor anyway!

Have any of you tried this, or plan on trying it? Any other BzzAgents out there? :)

11 Random Facts About Me:
1.I am terrified of birds. Yes, seriously! I got one tangled in my hair when I was younger and now I just sort of panic whenever one gets too close!
2.I really hate pants. If I lived somewhere warm, I'd wear dresses and skirts every single day.
3.I don't mean to sound like a crazy cat lady, but I LOVE my cat. I would rather hang out with him than most people.
4.I love Diet Coke too much. Like, I have actually been told I shouldn't drink it by my doctor due to some stomach issues, but I can't kick the habit. I need an intervention!
5.I am trying really hard to be more active. I was never into sports or anything as a kid and it's starting to catch up with me. So I keep trying yoga, pilates, running, biking, dancing, etc. attempting to find my 'thing.'
6.Anyone who knows me from before I turned 18 knows me as Allie (please, for the love of god, spell it correctly!) and everyone who met me after that knows me as Allison. I honestly have no idea how this happened, but it's true. For the record, either is completely fine with me.
7.I'm working on going back to school for a degree in Respiratory Therapy. I'd like to work in a Sleep Lab some day!
8.I have never broken a bone. Knock on wood.
9.I love bright colors (NEON) and paisley.
10.  My absolute favorite animals are goats. I think they are the most adorable creatures!
11.  I like watching pretty much any sort of crime show & EVERYTHING on HGTV.

Questions from Cookie:

Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner in Perversion. It's perfection.

Skinny Jeans! I can wear them with boots, but I have yet to master wearing them with any other shoes...I always feel like my feet look extra huge in them.
3) What's the most expensive beauty item you've bought?
I think the Urban Decay Vice Pallet. Worth every penny!
4) Quick! You have 15 seconds to gussy yourself up! What do you grab?
Benefit They're Real! Mascara, definitely. Revlon Just Bitten lip stain if I have a few extra seconds ;)
5) Discover a new color, describe and name it.
If there was a way to combine mint + lavender without it being ugly, I'd be in love with it & name it .... lavenmint? Bahaha.
6) Name 3 actors that, when mixed, would be your ideal man. (and stop drooling)
Jason Segel. He's hilarious and I feel like he is probably one of the sweetest people alive.
Chris Pine. He's pretty. :)
Jake Johnson. He just seems sort of cynical and sarcastic and I like it.
7) If you could create a makeup line, what would you call it?
I'd call it HOTDAMN!
8) Would you rather be a very famous Blogger or a fairly well-known Vlogger?
Blogger. I get so nervous in front of cameras. I just end up rambling.
9) What's your favorite magazine and why?
Not a big magazine reader, but I do love Rolling Stone. They always have interesting (and current!) articles. And I love love love music.
